This pretty little quilt is another of my tattered treasures.
I don't know the quilts history, and I'm
not really sure where I purchased it. I believe it was an
antique show in the late 1980s. I'm sure I was drawn to this quilt by
the colorful scrappy blocks set on the soft yellow and white background.

The piecing and quilting are meticulous. Every point meets and the quilting stitches are even stitches with about 12 stitches per inch.
The nine patch blocks have a horizontal line of quilting through the center
of each piece. This creates a solid line of quilting from border
to border where the pieced nine patch corners meet. The plain
blocks have an eight petal daisy design. The daisy design is
formed by first quilting 1/4" for the edge of the block to form a square,
then quilting a circle in the center of the square, and then quilting 7
division lines from the center circle to the 1/4" edge quilting. The
inside horizontal borders are quilted with a feather design and each of the
outside borders is quilted with a continuous ellipse design

The nine patches are made of scraps, most appear to be feed sack prints
which indicates the quilt was made sometime in the 1930's thru 1950's.
The quilt is a single bed size and measures approximately 64" x 77".
It is made up of 156, 3.5" pieced nine patch blocks and 132, 3.5"
plain yellow blocks set on point. Each nine patch block is made
up of 4 print and 5 white, 1 5/16" pieces. The four prints are the
same fabric. Initially I thought each of the nine patch blocks had a
different print but after taking a closer look I found a couple of repeats.
The quilt has four borders. There are 2, 2" Strips at the top
and bottom of the quilt, one white and one yellow. There are 2,
1 1/4" border strips on each side.

If you are looking for an exercise in patience, you might try making this
quilt using 156 different scraps. Remember to add 1/4" seam allowance
to the measurements listed above.
