Harding Family Quilts
Bow Tie

This quilt came from Louise Harding's attic.  Click here to read more about Louise's family.

This simple Bow Tie quilt, also referred to as the Necktie block, is one of my favorites.   The quilt consists of 20 rows of 19, 3 1/2" blocks.  It measures approximately 67"x71".

The fabric used to make the quilt appears to be shirting fabric popular around the turn of the century (1900).

The bow tie block background fabric is a chambray,  possibly cadet blue.   The bow ties are made of lavender and light blue stripe fabric.  The lavender and light blue stripe fabric is the same print just a different color.   The stripes are black stripes on white background.

The setting blocks are a variety of light stripe fabrics, including blues, greens, lavender and tans.

All the setting blocks are placed with the stripes vertical.   The fabrics in the bow tie blocks vary on the direction of the stripes.

The quilt binding is a light blue fabric.

Simple diagonal lines of tiny even quilting stitches cover the quilt.
